Ming Campbell - was he pushed? Course he was!
So Ming Campbell has resigned as leader of the Lib Dems. There's a surprise eh? And it was all his own decision? Now that I just do not believe. He was pushed. Whether or not anyone actually turned up at his door and told him to resign, the man was pushed. The Lib Dems have form for it. Look at the vicious way in which Charles Kennedy (the best leader they ever had) was hounded out and for what? For admitting he is an alcoholic. The right thing to do at that time, the compassionate thing to do would have been to give him time out to recover from his alcohol addiction. But more to the point (if we're all going to be hard nosed politicians with no time for this compassion nonsense here) - it would have been the sensible thing to do. You don't get rid of your best politician simply because they are ill. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! If they've any sense they'll re-elect Charles Kennedy. I don't care whether they do or not - a unionist is a unionist as far as I'm concerned but that's my best advice to them.
