Labour's "conversion" to Independence

So, David Cairns MP will today tell Scotland that it's okay, we ARE capable of being Independent after all. Oh well then - thanks very much David! But tell me, why the change of heart? Until now your party has spent its time telling us that it would be folly to go it alone. That we, alone amongst the countries of the world, were incapable of running our own affairs. Indeed you spent a fair bit of money on producing some horrific images of the "nightmare" we'd be living if we had the temerity to make our own decisions. So the turnaround can only be down to one of two options. Either:

*You are a very slow learner, and I mean VERY slow

or

*You knew all along that Scotland was no different to the rest of the world and was more than capable of running her own affairs.

If the former, that's not your fault, we're born with the intelligence that we're born with - but maybe it's best you find a new job as we need fast learners when it comes to running countries.

If the latter, you lied and THAT really would be your fault. It wasn't a little lie, not even a white lie, it was a huge lie that has been perpetuated by the likes of you on the people of your country for decades. We don't just need fast learners, we need honest people running our country.

I realise you didn't intend this to happen but I hope and believe your endorsement of Independence will accelerate the process and before long, our SNP Government  will lead us to full Independence and we can continue to govern with integrity, with honesty and ALWAYS for the people of Scotland.

2 - whoo, well said Anne my thoughts exactly.

I don’t welcome this statement at all, It’s not for Labour to tell us that “we could, maybe… just about survive” as an independent country, they’ve peddled lies and myths for a generation and held Scotland back.

Independence IS happening already despite Labour and their generation of liars and hypocrites

4 - Thanks David - I think they must think if they try a new tactic, it'll win them back some votes but I really do think it's too late now. People are seeing through them. Thank God. (Comment this)

5 - Totally agree Anne and David. Suddenly they seem to have realised that scare tactics don't work....so now it's 'ok' for Scotland to be Independent? Well sorry Cairns, this isnae rocket science. Like David Mc says, Independence is happening whether London Labour chose to endorse it or not. Clutching at straws!! (Comment this)

6 - I think this is a case of a very expedient and apparent change of 'party spin'.

After all, David Cairns is the same guy who just a few Saturday mornings ago on BBC Radio Scotland, dismissed the interviewer's pointing out that Labour lost control in Scotland at the last Scottish election, by retorting that Labour 'is still in control in Scotland' because 'we'still ruled at Westminster.

In other words, for him the whole devolution thing, right down to national elections, is really all just a bit of a show to keep the locals 'under control'? I don't accept,
the face of it, that someone with that kind of outlook is then credible when he spins a line about Scotland being able to control it's own destiny. If he does believe that, then it makes his control from Westmister mindset, to say the very least, distinctly self-serving and pretty amoral. (Comment this)
