Irony of India's Indy Celebrations

There's a lot of news coverage today about the 60th anniversary of India's Independence from the UK.

The BBC news said: "as part of India's Independence celebrations ...",

STV: "today India celebrated 60 years of Independence from the UK",

The Telegraph: "India has celebrated 60 years ..."

The Age (Australian newspaper): "India has much to celebrate as it marks the 60th anniversary of its independence from British rule"

Canada's Prime Minister: "India's Independence has been an inspiration to the world".

Celebrations, inspiration - my goodness, surely they're not words to be associated with the dreaded Independence word. I don't hear any of our unionist colleagues berating India for its narrow minded agenda. Maybe it's just Scotland that can't do it ...
