I once told of being in my sister’s living room catching up with her over a coffee when she jumps up and reads my blog! Last night I spoke to her for quite some time on the phone and this morning she leaves a message saying “you never write, you never call” that kind of thing. “What are you on about?” I asked when I returned her call. “Your blog, it’s not been updated since Tuesday” she replies. It’s coming to something when your family values your blog more than talking “live”!

And the other one’s not called or posted any rude messages on my blog for days.

Anyway just a quick apology. Having difficulty getting online just now (remember David? Blame him.) and moving house next week so updating will be intermittent but all earth shatteringly important matters will make their way here eventually.

The minute I met Julie Shackleton (now Hepburn)’s mum, I knew this woman had taste. And now I’ve had it confirmed. You will only know what I’m talking about if you visit Jules’ blog which, incidentally, is one of my favourites!

Never mind Julie, my sister Christine was giving her critique on some blog (not yours) and she said to me (and I quote): “I thought your blog was on the drab side, then I had a look at this and it makes my shopping list read like an Oscar Wilde novel” - she has always been noted for her charm has our Christine.

Having said that, I still think the Shackleton matriarch has not only style, grace and youthful good looks, but also impeccable taste.

Did anyone else ever get that lecture? It’s true though. I can’t believe it. I didn’t blog yesterday. When I started doing this www.tartanhero.blogspot.com (who is going to show me how to do links properly, aren’t you Grant?) told me that I must never go a day without blogging or I’d lose everyone who came to visit the site. So every day since the start of March, no matter how busy I’ve been, I have updated my blog. During the election I was sometimes getting up at 5.30, and on the go till I went to bed at 1am the next day. This was not unusual. In the intervening hours I’d often be so busy I’d think I was going to have a heart attack! But I still updated my blog. Until yesterday. And the truth is, I just couldn’t be bothered! I had the time, I had the computer in front of me most of the day but I just didn’t want to. So I apologise to the 150 people who visited yesterday to read Thursday’s drivel only to discover there was none. I will redouble my efforts to provide drivel on a daily basis
