Fantastic Franz

Went to see Franz Ferdinand at the Grand Ole Opry last night and it was fantastic! I’ve never seen them live because you can never get tickets but I got on the guest list :-) It was really funny seeing them play in such an unusual venue but it only added to the atmosphere. There was one song which I’d never heard and I thought they were singing “Shopping for Love” but apparently it was BLOOD! I’ll have to look up the lyrics to that one. Anyway the drumming was amazing on that one and the bass went right through me - in a good way of course. In a great way in fact. I’ve always liked FF but I saw last night why they’re one of the few bands from this side of the Atlantic to crack it on the other side. They totally deserve their success. I can update no more today because my “friend” David “fixed” my wireless broadband. Well, he fixed it if that’s code for wrecking it. Still, he tried … so until I can get online at home it’s just short posts for now. You have a lot to be grateful to David for.

Well yes I, yes I want to want to want to

Hey you’ve got to be a fan of Franz Ferdinand to get what that title means. And if you ARE a fan, you’re going to be soooo jealous of me. I’ve got tickets to see them at the Grand Ole Opry on Monday night :-) Am very very happy and tres excited. I have to say a huge thank you to Fraser and Aileen and Bob for acquiring the tickets. I know it’s an unusual venue for FF to be playing but that’s what’s cool about them, they don’t just stick to yer average venue. And the Grand Ole Opry is anything but average. I organised a C&W night there once and lots of regulars came to it. At the end they do this thing where they play the star spangled banner and hold up lighters - lit ones. And we’re all in a circle. And I laughed - I think it was a nervous laugh because they all looked so serious - and they did not like it one bit. It wasn’t even a big laugh but I was told in no uncertain terms that I had to show due respect. So I’ll know better this time ….
